About UsThe Sachem's Head Frostbiters have been racing Seadog class boats in Guilford, Conn. since the early 1960s. We gather each fall from October to early December for a series of Sunday afternoon races featuring a wide range of sailors, from newcomers to experienced regatta champions.
With a dedicated corps of volunteers serving on race committee and crash boats, we deliver high-quality racing in a beautiful setting. The equalizing factor is the Seadog -- a 9-foot fiberglass dinghy that tests the skills of any sailor. Built in the 1960s by Skimmar of Connecticut, the 'dog has been revived at various times by other builders but retains the bathtub shape, raked daggerboard and quirky handling characteristics that put a premium on sailing ability.
